Are You an Alive Alone Member on Your Own?
Some of our Alive Alone members have expressed a desire to connect with others who are also without a spouse. Surviving the loss of our only or all children is an incredibly painful and isolating journey — and for those of us who are single, widowed, or without a partner, the loneliness can feel even more profound. Without someone to share our grief or the memories of our children, the path forward can be especially difficult.
While there are few resources available for people in this situation, we do have each other — and that connection matters.
To help foster support and connection, we’ve created a private Signal group called:
“Finding Our Way Together”
This group is for those who would like to network with fellow Alive Alone members who are also navigating life without a spouse. It’s a place to check in, share thoughts, or simply be reminded that you’re not alone.
🛡️ Why Signal?
Signal is a free, secure, encrypted messaging app — a more private alternative to WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, iMessage, or SMS. Only group members can see the messages. There are no scheduled meetings or expectations — just check in when you feel like it.
You can also control your notifications, turning them on or off based on your preferences.
📱 How to Join
- Download the free Signal app
- For iPhone/iPad/Android: search for “Signal” in your app store
- For desktop (Windows/Mac/Linux): visit https://signal.org/download/

- After installing, send an email to gwen@alivealone.org with your Signal username and/or phone number.
- You’ll be invited to join the “Finding Our Way Together” group.
- Once you’ve joined, we kindly ask that you introduce yourself when you’re ready.
This group is here for you — no pressure, no expectations. Just a place to connect with others who truly understand.
We’re finding our way together — one step, one message, one moment at a time.
Hopefully, we can share some of our tears and maybe find some laughter together. This is a new venture for Alive Alone and we’ll do our best to make it beneficial.
